Motorcycle Roads - Colorado
Obviously a lot of great roads W of Denver... These are just the ones
I've seen people post about that I want to record:
Colorado state road 14, Poudre Canyon, W of Fort Collins. At Walden, take
125 and 40.
Passing the Black Canyon of the Gunnison (near the town of Gunnison), find the road to Crystal Dam, E.
Portal Road, it joins CO347; this road can overheat brakes on the downhill,
even more fun going back up.
Take 92 N from US50 (E. of Montrose). This road is raved about. See
www.unrally.com.
Also 65 N from Delta, CO to I-70.
From Randy Bishop, Highlands Ranch, CO: "Here are some roads near Black
Canyon that I like: - CO-149 from Blue Mesa Reservoir to Lake City,
Slumgullion and Spring Creek Passes, to Creed. - CO-65 over Grand Mesa.
Great views and twisty roads. - From Crested Butte, the well packed gravel
road to Kebler Pass. - From Almont (north of Gunnison) the road along the
Taylor River to Taylor Reservoir. White water on one side almost all the
way. And Lots of new pavement. :) See
www.concours.org/co for the
Pass Bagger 50 From Bob Hole: Consider CO 141 between Whitewater and
Naturita. Also visit the South side of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison just
east of Montrose. Make sure to take a right at the entrance station and ride
down to the river. It'll be a good test of your brakes. (This is another
reference to CO347.) From klr650nut at yahoo com: Depends on weather and what
the temp might be but from Grand Junction on I70 you could take 65 across the
Grand Mesa and then 55 to Durango, great roads. Another great route is 141 from
GJ to Gateway, Ridgeway, and then 550 to Durango. 145 to Cortez is also very
nice. This page was last edited
